The Story Behind FORNASH

The journey began with Stephanie Fornash Kennedy’s love for bold design and tropical inspiration. A Caribbean vacation ignited her creative spark, where the bright colors and lush beauty of the islands fueled her passion for style. Upon returning to Washington, D.C., Stephanie turned this inspiration into reality by designing custom handbags, which quickly caught the attention of local fashion lovers.

In November 2002, just six months after selling her first handbag, Stephanie opened the FORNASH boutique in Georgetown, a haven for chic and colorful designs. By August 2003, the brand debuted at Accessories the Show in New York City, capturing the hearts of retail buyers nationwide.

As the brand evolved, FORNASH expanded its offerings to include scarves, clothing, and, most notably, jewelry—a runaway success. A defining moment came in December 2009 when the iconic FORNASH Boa Scarf was featured on Oprah Winfrey’s coveted “O List” in O, The Oprah Magazine. This recognition catapulted the brand into the national spotlight, earning FORNASH a dedicated following and new retail partnerships across the country.
